Island Outpost offers convenient bike rentals on Ward’s Island for adults, kids, and teens—an easy and enjoyable way to explore Toronto Island’s scenic paths and waterfront. Rentals begin with a one-hour minimum, with additional time charged in half-hour increments. Day rentals for single bikes can be booked in advance, while specialty bikes and pedal vehicles are available on a walk-in basis only. Our friendly staff provide bike fitting, basic adjustments, and safety guidance, and our tuck shop is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, and essentials to support a full day of island adventure.
Most roads on the island are considered multi-use trails with cyclists, pedestrians and motorized vehicles all sharing this space. Keep right and pass on the left. Use your bell, obey road signage, walk bikes over bridges and respect other park users & residents. To keep things safe and fun for everyone, please stick to the paths and make sure not to leave the bikes unattended unless you've rented a bike lock.

Rent a single person cruiser bike and roll around Toronto Island for some laid-back exploring. All hourly rentals are walk-in only but you can reserve ahead for day rentals. Cruise the main drag on Cibola Avenue or wander through the chill communities of Wards and Algonquin Island. These Electra cruisers are top-notch—smooth, comfy, and perfect for soaking in the island life. The bikes are simple, light and sporty, giving you an exceptional recreational experience for your visit.
These bikes come in both step-over (men's style) and step-through (women's style) and both have coaster brakes. This means to stop or brake, you pedal backwards. The single bikes have a maximum total weight limit (combined weight of bicycle, rider, and cargo) of 300 pounds (136 kg).

Coming out with the family? Let the kids take the lead on one of our kids bikes. Featuring a fun robot pattern on the frame, these bikes are designed to make riding exciting and approachable for young cyclists. Lightweight, maneuverable, and equipped with hand brakes, they’re easy to control and confidence-building to ride.
Toronto Island’s car-free paths and quiet neighbourhoods make it an ideal place for safe cycling, giving kids plenty of space to practice, explore, and have fun while parents ride nearby. Our Children's bikes have 20" wheels and are suitable for individuals with a height of 3'8" (112 cm) - 4"5" (135 cm).

Ask our staff to help set up the seat height, handlebar height, and angle for a comfortable and safe fit. We recommend asking for riding tips and taking a few practice laps on our concrete pad or grass lawn before heading out onto the paths. Don’t forget your helmet—children’s helmets are available in a wide range of sizes to ensure a proper fit.

Minimum requirement for participation: water based experiences require you to have the ability to swim short distances and tread water without a personal flotation device (PFD) or lifejacket on. We do not do a swim test and rely on the honesty of the participants to answer this question truthfully in order to remain safe on the water. A properly fitted and sized PFD or lifejacket is required to be worn for all TISUP on-water experiences. Please be on time upon returning equipment. Late fees may be added especially for end of day rentals returning after our closing time.
For land-based rentals such as for bicycles and in-line skates, some experience is required. Patrons must have the basic ability to safely manage equipment and abide by the rules and etiquette of the road.
